What injuries do you treat?
As a French state-registered physiotherapist and osteopath in Courchevel, most injuries treated are directly linked to skiing, snowboarding and winter sports. The focus is always to reduce pain quickly, restore mobility and help clients return to the slopes in the safest possible way.
Typical knee injuries include ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) and MCL (medial collateral ligament) sprains or tears, meniscus lesions, patellar pain and post-surgical rehabilitation following ligament reconstruction. Treatment combines manual therapy, swelling reduction, progressive strengthening and specific ski-oriented reconditioning so that the knee can tolerate turns, bumps and variable snow conditions again.
Back pain is another very common reason to call My French Physio in Courchevel, whether it is an acute lumbar strain after a fall, stiffness from long travel and jet lag, or chronic lower back issues aggravated by skiing. Sessions use a mix of osteopathic adjustments, soft tissue techniques and targeted exercises to decompress the spine, improve mobility and allow you to ski or snowboard with more control and less fatigue.
Shoulder, wrist and hand injuries are frequent after collisions or falls on hard snow, especially in snowboarders. Rehabilitation can include work on rotator cuff strains, AC joint sprains, dislocations, fractures, skier’s thumb or ligament lesions of the wrist, with the goal of restoring strength and stability for poles use and safe landings.
Neck pain, whiplash-type symptoms and rib dysfunctions also appear regularly after high-speed crashes or sudden rotations. Osteopathic techniques for the cervical spine and ribs help relieve headaches, breathing discomfort and muscle tension, and often improve overall skiing comfort and balance.
In addition to traumatic injuries, many guests request help for overuse problems such as Achilles tendinopathy, plantar fasciitis, shin splints or hip pain. Early treatment, taping and advice on warm-up, stretching and equipment can prevent a simple strain from becoming a holiday-ending injury.
Post-surgical and complex cases are also managed at home in your chalet or hotel, including rehabilitation after fractures, ligament surgery, joint replacements or spinal surgery. The service is fully mobile, English-speaking and adapted to the recommendations from your surgeon or usual therapist at home, ensuring continuity of care while you enjoy the resort.
How does a home visit session work?
The concept is simple: your time in Courchevel is precious, so the physiotherapist and osteopath comes directly to you, anywhere in 1850, 1650, 1550, Le Praz or La Tania. Appointments are available seven days a week, from early morning until late at night, so treatment fits easily around your ski schedule, work calls or family plans.
Before the first session, contact can be made by phone, WhatsApp or email to briefly discuss your problem, previous medical history and expectations. This initial exchange helps to plan the right duration, prepare any specific equipment and check whether you need physiotherapy, osteopathy, sports massage or a combination of these approaches.
On arrival at your chalet or hotel, the therapist brings a professional treatment table and any necessary tools so that your living room or bedroom quickly becomes a private clinic. There is no need for you to travel, wait in a crowded waiting room or organise complex transfers when you are already tired from a full day on the mountain.
Each session starts with a detailed assessment: questions about the accident or onset of pain, medical history, current medications, and functional goals such as returning to skiing, walking without crutches or sleeping without pain. This is followed by a physical examination including posture analysis, range of motion, muscle strength, neurological testing if needed, and specific orthopaedic tests.
Treatment then combines manual therapy, osteopathic adjustments when appropriate, soft tissue work, stretching, joint mobilisation and personalised exercises. For acute injuries, swelling and pain management, safe positioning, taping or bracing advice and progression planning are always integrated into the session.
Before the therapist leaves, you receive clear instructions on what to do between sessions: self-massage, ice or heat, simple exercises, safe ways to move around the chalet and realistic guidance about returning to skiing or other activities. If necessary, the therapist can also communicate with your insurance, your chalet manager or your doctor at home to coordinate care.
Because the service is mobile and powered by a Jeep, appointments can go ahead even when roads are snowy and conditions are difficult in the resort. This flexibility is designed so that you never have to sacrifice treatment because of bad weather, lack of transport or limited opening hours.
Why choose a physio / osteopath instead of a clinic in the resort?
Choosing a mobile physiotherapist and osteopath in Courchevel offers a very different experience compared with going to a standard clinic in the resort. The emphasis is on personalised care, comfort and time efficiency, so your holiday can continue with less stress and more enjoyment.
First, you save a significant amount of time and energy by avoiding trips to a medical centre while you are already injured or exhausted. There is no need to organise taxis, navigate icy roads or wait in queues; the therapist arrives at your door exactly when planned, with all the equipment required.
Second, home visits create a calm and private environment, which is especially valuable for families, high-level athletes or guests who prefer discretion. You can receive treatment in your own space, wearing comfortable clothes, with the possibility for relatives or friends to be present if you wish.
Third, the same practitioner follows you from the first assessment to the last session, ensuring continuity and a clear long-term strategy. This 1-to-1 follow-up is often difficult to guarantee in larger clinics where different professionals may see you at each visit.
As a dual-trained physiotherapist and osteopath with more than 20 years of experience in Courchevel, the practitioner understands exactly how ski resorts work, how injuries happen on different pistes and what performance demands you face on the slopes. This specific mountain expertise allows treatment and advice to be tailored to your level, from complete beginner to expert freerider.
The approach is holistic: beyond treating the painful area, the goal is to rebalance the whole body, optimise biomechanics and improve your overall skiing or snowboarding technique. For example, a body balancing session that combines osteopathy and physiotherapy can free joint restrictions, improve muscle coordination and help prevent future mechanical problems.
Another advantage is flexibility in the type of care offered: within the same stay you can have injury management, performance enhancement, preventive stretching sessions, sports massage for recovery, or simple well-being treatments for jet lag and muscle fatigue. This adaptable model fits both those who have had serious trauma and those who simply want to feel better on the slopes each day.
Finally, being both French and English speaking, the therapist makes communication straightforward for international guests and can liaise easily with local doctors, radiology centres and luxury hotel partners such as Cheval Blanc, Les Airelles or Le Mélézin if needed. The objective is always the same: fast, safe return to activity and a memorable holiday in Courchevel, with your health in the best possible hands.
